Each week for the next nine weeks, Tide 100.9 FM in partnership with Learfield IMG College will air classic Alabama games during the Saban era. The games will be aired on Saturdays and Sundays on Tide 100.9 FM, our web browser and the TIDE APP. The game this weekend will air on Saturday, April 18 at 3:00 p.m. and on Sunday, April 19 at noon.

The season had been building up to the showdown. Number one Florida vs. number two Alabama. Two undefeated titans, meeting for the second straight year in the Georgia Dome for the SEC Championship. The Crimson Tide had escaped tight contests with Tennessee, LSU and Auburn. Florida had survived an SEC street-fight with Arkansas. Both teams poised to win and go to the national championship.

The Crimson Tide, desperate for revenge on the Gators for the previous year's defeat, jumped out to an early 9-0 lead and never looked back. What was billed as a close contest between top teams ended in a blowout. The Crimson Tide won its first SEC Championship in 10 years, beating the Florida Gators 32-13.

Senior kicker Leigh Tiffin went 2/2 on his field goals and 2/3 on his extra-points to give Alabama early momentum and the rest was history. The Crimson Tide punched its ticket to Pasadena, California and its first trip to the National Championship in 17 years.
