Tide Softball Puts Seminoles to Bed
Alabama’s Crimson Tide rolled over the Florida State Seminoles with a historic 4-1 victory Wednesday night, marking their first win in Tallahassee.
It was an exciting ACC vs SEC matchup for the Tide, who came out playing aggressively and attacking early on.
Abby Duchscherer led the charge with a first-inning homer, her sixth of the season, setting the tone for the Tide. Marlie Giles doubled, adding to the offensive onslaught, while Bailey Dowling’s RBI single widened the gap to 2-0.
In the second inning, Kendal Clark started off with a base hit, and Kristen White showcased her bunting skills, successfully reaching first base.
Kayla Beaver demonstrated her pitching prowess with a strikeout towards the end of the second inning. Heading into the third inning, maintaining the lead.
Duchscherer continued her impressive performance with another base hit in the third inning, followed by Dowling’s base hit that loaded the bases for the Tide. A few errors from the runners switched them back to defense. The Tide’s defense remained impenetrable, with Kenleigh Cahalan making a standout play at shortstop.
Pitcher Kayla Beaver struck out several batters, showcasing her dominance on the mound and securing the Tide’s strong performance against their ACC opponents. Unfortunately, Beaver checked out in the bottom of the fourth inning after suffering an apparent injury to her glove hand after attempting to tag a runner at home plate.
Alea Johnson, a transfer from LSU, stepped in to replace Beaver and showcased her skills with a strikeout in the fifth inning, an impressive feat against Seminoles batter Jaysoni Beachum. Her changeup and rise ball combination proved to be effective.
The Tide dominated in the sixth inning, with a walk on Jenna Johnson and Kali Heivilin’s homerun, the Tide moved the score to 4-1.
Offense and defense stayed consistent the entire game, managing to have runners on bases every inning. Their aggressiveness throughout led to their first win against the Seminoles in Tallahassee.
