Miami Dolphins' second-year quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has been designated to return to practice off of the injured reserved list resulting from a rib injury in Week 2. The news was first reported by Field Yates via Twitter.

The Dolphins are set to take on Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars in London next week. Miami has lost all three games since losing Tagovailoa in a Week 2 game against the Buffalo Bills when he suffered a devastating rib injury.

Tagovailoa was under constant duress early against the Bills when a hit from second-year edge rusher AJ Epenesa left Tagovailoa with a rib injury that was initially just a day-to-day situation. Further tests showed fractures would land him on the short-term IR.

Tagovailoa resumed throwing on last Monday and now appears on track to return to full-time action.

Tagovailoa had thrown for 215 yards and one touchdown to one interception and a rushing touchdown while leading Miami to a 1-1 record.

Last year, as the Dolphins' 5th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, Tagovailoa took over the starting job in Week 7 and led Miami to a 6-3 record as a starter, just short of a playoff appearance.
