Tuscaloosa to Offer Drive-Through Testing
Tuscaloosa saw its first confirmed case of the COVID-19 coronavirus this week. In response the Druid City Hospital is setting up a drive-through screening facility to offer tests in mass to those who are concerned they may have been exposed to the COVID-19 coronavirus.
Starting on Monday, in the parking area just west of Dr. Earl Hillard Drive near the DCH laundry facility citizens will be able to drive-through from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and receive verbal and visual screening based on the CDC's most recent guidlines.
Individuals will be directed in several different directions based on the results from the on-site screening. They could be directed to the Emergency Department, their primary care provider or to a tent on-site for additional evaluation including specimen collection and testing of symptomatic individuals.
This announcement comes just one day after officials confirmed the first postitive COVID-19 case in Tuscaloosa County.
The most recent CDC guidelines for testing include those who:
- Travel from areas affected within the last 14 days.
- Experience close contact with someone who has been a laboratory confirmed coronavirus patient in the last 14 days
- Have Respiratory illness or Flu-like symptoms including fever
