The Alabama men's basketball team saw two players enter the transfer portal at the conclusion of the 2019-20 season. Freshman Raymond Hawkins was the first, followed by fellow freshman Jaylen Forbes. Both players announced their new destinations on Twitter today. Hawkins will transfer to Long Beach State, while Forbes will join Tulane.

Hawkins was the first official commitment in the Nate Oats era, he is a 6-foot-9 center from Henderson, Nevada. He was a three-star recruit and the third ranked player in the state of Nevada coming out of high school according to the 247Sports composite rankings. He originally committed to Oats at Buffalo but switched his commitment when Oats accepted the Alabama job.

Hawkins played in six games playing a total of five minutes as a freshman. He committed one turnover and two personal fouls on the season. His final game for the Crimson Tide was February 22 when he checked in against Ole Miss.

Forbes originally committed to the Crimson Tide under coach Avery Johnson, he is a 6-foot-4 shooting guard from Florence, Mississippi. He was a four-star recruit and the second ranked player in the state of Mississippi coming out of high school according to the 247Sports composite rankings.

Forbes played in 30 games and started in one in 2019-20 for Alabama. He averaged 2.7 points, 2.1 rebounds and shot 21% from the 3-point line in 10.4 minutes per game. His best game came against the Auburn Tigers in which he scored 11 points and made three 3-pointers in 15 minutes off the bench.

Both players will seek more playing time at their new schools after sitting out the 2020-21 season unless they are granted a waiver to be immediately eligible.
