Tyler Ras Named Finalist for Gold Glove
Alabama junior pitcher Tyler Ras was selected as a finalist for the American Baseball Coaches Association and Rawlings Sporting Goods NCAA Division I Gold Glove Team. The annual award is given out to the best defender at each position. Ras is joined by two other players in his category.
This season, Ras stepped into the role as Alabama’s Friday night starter due to Connor Prielipp’s early-season injury. Ras ended 2021 with a 5.38 ERA a 7-5 record. He was named to the SEC All-Defensive Team by league coaches, lead all Alabama starters with his 7 wins, and tied 9th in the SEC for total wins. Ras pitched a total of 86.2 innings which ranks 2ndat Alabama. Ras played for at least five innings in each of his 11 starts.
Alabama baseball has won a Gold Glove twice before. Taylor Dugas won the honor in 2011 and Kyle Overstreet in 2013. The ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove Teams will be announced on Wednesday, June 23rd by Rawlings on their Twitter.
