Myles Upchurch Tabbed as Perfect Game’s Freshman of the Week
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — After an incredible start on Sunday, where standout freshman pitcher Myles Upchurch tossed six innings of two-run baseball along with 11 strikeouts, Perfect Game USA named the right-hander as their Co-Freshman of the Week.
The Odenton, MD., native has made immediate contributions after deferring a 19th round draft selection by the Cincinnati Reds, posting a 3-1 record with a 1.91 ERA across four starts.
In addition to limiting runs, Upchurch has been a strikeout machine for the Crimson Tide. His 31 strikeouts lead all Division I freshmen, while his 14.9 strikeouts per nine mark is 16th in the country and 5th in the nation.

Rob Vaughn and Jason Jackson will look to call on Upchurch, along with the other two-thirds of Alabama's starting rotation in Tyler Fay and Zane Adams, throughout SEC play.
