Who Will Be Alabama’s Starting Quarterback This Season?
Who will be starting for the Alabama football team this upcoming season is the biggest question surrounding the team.
We asked our callers on The Game with Ryan Fowler this week who they thought would be the quarterback on the field come Sept. 2.
Here are the results.
Jalen Milroe was the top answer from our audience. The redshirt sophomore has the most experience in crimson and white. Last season, he saw time in eight games and went 31-of-53 for 297 yards, five touchdowns, and three interceptions. He earned his first start of his career versus Texas A&M in 2022 while Bryce Young was recovering from his shoulder injury. He had a good A-Day outing, going 19-of-37 for 245 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions.
Ty Simpson came in at No. 2 on our list. The Martin, Tenn., native saw time in four games last season, going 4-of-5 for 35 yards. He was a five-star recruit from the class of 2022 and was the No. 3 quarterback in his class, according to 247Sports Composite. During A-Day, he went 12-of-26 for 155 yards and an interception.
Buchner ranked No. 3 in our polling. The former Notre Dame quarterback recently transferred to Alabama and is familiar with the coaching style of former Notre Dame and current Alabama offensive coordinator Tommy Rees. In his two seasons in South Bend, Ind., he went 67-of-118 for 949 yards, six touchdowns, and eight interceptions, as well as 82 rush attempts for 459 yards and even touchdowns.
