Alabama baseball player Peyton Wilson was named SEC Freshman of the week last week. The freshman from Hoover Alabama played in three of the five contests last week for the Crimson Tide. Wilson is the younger brother of former Alabama quarterback John Parker Wilson and Alabama baseball player Ross Wilson.

Wilson started in three games for the Tide last week, one at catcher and two in centerfield, he finished tied for second in the SEC in batting average and in runs scored, .571 and eight respectively. He led the team in batting average and tied for the team lead in hits and doubles during the five game stretch with eight and two respectively.

Wilson is the second Alabama freshman to win the award after Owen Diodati won the award for the opening weekend. The Crimson Tide is 12-0 on the season and will take on South Alabama on Tuesday, North Alabama on Wednesday and finish with a three-game weekend series with Lipscomb this week. The Tide will try to keep winning and beat the best start in program history, 15-0 in 1997.
