Former Tide head basketball coach Wimp Sanderson joined Ryan Fowler on Tuesday night to discuss the state of Alabama Crimson Tide basketball.

Sanderson was the head coach of the Tide from 1980-1992, and he led Alabama to 10 NCAA Tournament berths during his tenure. When applying the measuring stick in college basketball for The Capstone, no one did it better than Wimp.

However, the past few years have presented some discontent with Alabama fans, most wondering whether or not Anthony Grant is the right man for the job. Fowler asked Coach Sanderson if it were fair for fans to call for Grant's job this year.

"The one thing that I don't do is I don't try to decide what the fans want and don't want in the position that I'm in."

Coach Sanderson also mentioned that the level of play in the Southeastern Conference is improving, but isn't where it should be at the competitive platform.

"It's not there yet. We'll have three or four teams in the NCAA (tournament)... I think the other thing people forget, we've had SEC teams in the championship games: Florida two or three times, won a championship, Kentucky's winning. Our league has presented the NCAA with a national champion in basketball."
