Alabama DB Zabian Brown Following Domianting Performance in 37-20 Victory Over UT
After the Crimson Tide's 37-20 victory over their conference rivals, Tennessee, Alabama's sophomore cornerback, Zabien Brown, addressed the media about his game-changing 99-yard pick-six. This impressive play occurred on the last play of the first half, allowing the Crimson Tide to take a 17-point lead going into halftime.

The Tide's defensive back had an excellent performance in Alabama's rivalry game against Tennessee, where the sophomore recorded seven total tackles, including three solo tackles, and one interception that was returned for a touchdown.
Brown's big play nearly went awry when a Volunteer wide receiver came close to tackling the defensive back as the half was ending. However, Brown managed to evade the defender and took the ball all the way into the end zone, closing out the half with a crucial touchdown. He noted that he was aware of the approaching defender and recognized that the defender had a good angle on him. Brown understood that if he were brought down, time would expire. Utilizing his exceptional athletic ability, he outmaneuvered the Tennessee receiver, delivering a much-needed touchdown that denied the Volunteers a chance to narrow Alabama's nine-point lead.
The Crimson Tide's sophomore defensive back joked that he had a touchdown celebration planned in his mind, but he was too tired after his 99-yard sprint to perform it.
"Well, I saw the open field and just started running. Then he had a good angle on me, so I'm like the time if I get tackled, the time is going to go out, so I got to find a way to get into that zone." Brown added, "I wanted to hit my dance, but I was too tired."
Brown shared that after that momentum-changing play, the team still didn't lighten up with everyone remaining "laser focused" in the locker room during halftime, waiting to finish the job, which they did with the Tide, adding two more touchdowns in the second half.
Alabama's defense delivered an outstanding performance, holding Tennessee to just seven points in the first half. The defense contributed nine points in that same period, thanks to a pick-six by Brown and a safety resulting from an intentional grounding call on Tennessee, which awarded two points to Alabama. This put Alabama ahead 16-7 with over three minutes left in the second quarter, allowing the offense to regain possession and score immediately afterward. Brown noted that while the team still has areas to improve, it feels great for the entire defense to execute effectively.
"It feels great to go out there and perform at a high level. You know, we still have many things to clean up, especially in the second half." Brown said, "But you know that's what we are going to focus on next week and watch some film tomorrow."
To conclude Brown's interview, he shared a phrase that the defensive group uses to encapsulate all the great qualities of a winning defense and team in one number: "111." This phrase emphasizes trust and not letting your teammate down.
Brown on the meaning of the Tide's new phrase: "111 is about trust, doing your job, and not letting your brother down."
Alabama will improve to 6-1 on the season and 4-0 in conference play with the Tide's next test coming next Saturday, October 25, against South Carolina on the road.
