Nye scored 29 points, including six 3-pointers, which propelled her to the top of the all-time 3-pointers list for women's basketball at the University of Alabama. With a total of 278 3-pointers made throughout her three-year career, she surpassed Betsy Harris, who previously held the record with 272 in 1994.

“I just want to thank my teammates, my coaches, and ultimately, I just want to win,” said Nye when asked about setting a new all-time record. “So, I’m very thankful and grateful that I got the record, but now it’s time to just keep winning."

The Huntsville, Alabama, native has established herself as one of the standout players in both the Southeastern Conference and on the national stage. In the 2023-24 season, she set a new program record for 3-pointers made in a single season with 108, tying for the second-most in SEC history. She led the SEC in 3-point field goals made and ranked third nationally, surpassed 1,000 career points in Alabama's win against Georgia on Jan. 11, and achieved a career-high 28 points (9-17 FG, 8-13 3FG) in a victory over Mississippi State on Feb. 25. Nye also tied the program's single-game record for 3-pointers with eight against the Bulldogs (Mississippi), reached double figures in 26 games, including four with 20 or more points, and scored at least 15 points in six consecutive SEC games. Additionally, she was recognized as the nations's leading returning 3-point shooter for field goals made, according to PostHer Hoops.

So far in the 2024-25 season, she has achieved a personal best of 32 points during the Crimson Tide's victory over the Ole Miss Rebels on Jan.12. She also set a career record by sinking nine 3-pointers against the Florida Gators on Feb.6. Currently, she leads the Crimson Tide with a true shooting percentage of 61.0%, an effective field goal percentage of 59.5%, and a 3-point shooting percentage of 45.1%, averaging 14.7 points per game.

Ranked No. 20, the Crimson Tide still have two regular-season games remaining, including their final home match against No. 7 LSU on Feb.27 and a season finale against No.13 Oklahoma on Mar. 2. With these games ahead and a promising outlook for the SEC and NCAA tournaments, Nye has the opportunity to enhance her record and increase her 3-point totals.

Regardless of how the remainder of the season unfolds, Nye is poised to be remembered as one of the greatest women's basketball players in Alabama's history, forever etched in as a Crimson Tide legacy athlete.

"Well, it's been amazing to have an opportunity to coach Aaliyah [Nye] and watch her grow as a person and in her belief in Alabama. I think her staying here a year ago said a lot because she chose to come back and represent Alabama. It was always about Alabama and was always about the front of her chest, which is unique in this day and time. To see her break that record, she truly deserves it. They were picture perfect today [Sunday] when SA [Barker] facilitated and found her, it was so selfless. That's what this team is about. There have been so many great 3-point shooters in this program, but to do that in three years, I want y'all to think about that in three years, not four years. The work that she puts in beyond practice and the time that she shoots when nobody's watching. I can't tell you how many times she's texted Kelly [Curry] the past three years to come early, or stay late on this day. It's been amazing to watch and every little girl who wants to become a good shooter should watch her. She's an incredible person, she's an incredible player, and I cannot wait to watch her future, because she's getting her MBA. So she's a star," said coach Kristy Curry regarding Nye making history following Sunday night's win.
