Alabama Women’s Basketball Roster Has Just Two Players Remaining
Coach Pauline Love was appointed as Alabama's women’s basketball head coach on April 12. The new coach and her staff have their first task at hand: building a competitive roster, as Alabama’s roster is now down to just two players—guards Ace Austin and Tianna Chambers.

Austin was an ESPNW four-star recruit, ranked No. 55 by ESPNW and No. 43 by Prospects Nation in the Class of 2025. Austin began to find her way last season, picking up valuable minutes in her rookie season, playing in 30 of the Crimson Tide's 33 games and averaging 20 minutes of action, with a career-high 30 minutes against Samford on Nov. 19, 2025. Austin surpassed 100 career points against Arkansas on Jan. 4 and scored a career-high 21 points against Samford on Nov. 19. She led Alabama's bench with 7 double-digit games and posted a career-high nine rebounds against Sam Houston on Dec. 16.
With Austin gaining experience in her rookie season and being one of only two remaining guards on Alabama’s roster, she will likely be a starter in the 2026-27 season, especially with starters Ta'Mia Scott, Karly Weathers, and Jessica Timmons having concluded their college careers and starter Diana Collins in the transfer portal.
Besides the four starting guards leaving via the transfer portal or due to being ineligible, Alabama saw more guards depart via the transfer portal; redshirt sophomore Reychel Douglas, and sophomore Eris Lester.
This opens bigger roles not only for Austin but also for Chambers, who was a former ESPNW four-star recruit, ranked No. 5 by Prep Girls Hoops in Colorado, and No. 94 by ESPNW. Chambers' minutes picked up in the later part of the season, averaging 5.5 minutes through 15 games, with a career-high 18 minutes against Vanderbilt on Feb. 26, and added a career-high six points against Texas on March 6 in the SEC Tournament.
With over 1,000 women’s basketball players in the transfer portal and Alabama needing to fill spots, the Crimson Tide will have a variety of players to choose from to begin building the 2026 roster.
