Sherrell is the second Alabama men's basketball player to enter the transfer portal ahead of it officially opening tomorrow, joining forward Taylor Bol Bowen. Sherrell was Alabama's big man this season, starting all 34 games that he appeared in for head coach Nate Oats and the Crimson Tide. He averaged 23.9 minutes per game, scoring 11.1 points, bringing down 6.2 rebounds, and contributing 1.1 assists per game while shooting 53.9% from the floor and 33.8 from three-point range.

His top performance of the season came in Alabama's 117-115 double overtime victory over Arkansas in March, where he scored a career-high 26 points and collected a career-high 13 rebounds, notching his first career double-double in the victory over the Razorbacks. Sherrell's departure is notable for the Crimson Tide, as he had become an instrumental part of Nate Oats' scheme during his second season with the Crimson Tide.

With his departure, Alabama will need to find a new starting center for the third consecutive season. Sherrell spent his freshman season backing up Clifford Omoruyi at Alabama before taking over as the full-time starter at the five as a sophomore.

Alabama has had two players enter the transfer portal so far:

Junior forward Taylor Bol Bowen
Sophomore center Aiden Sherrell

The transfer portal will officially open on Tuesday, April 7, and will remain open until April 21.
