Former Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback, and 3-time National Champion, A.J. McCarron announced on in his Instagram Monday evening he will be returning to the Houston Texans in 2020.

The terms of his new deal have yet to be released, though it would be expected his next contract looks similar to his 2019 deal: one-year, $3M.

McCarron played in two games in 2019, starting one against the Tennessee Titans in Week 17, as the Texans had already solidified its position in the NFL Playoffs. In that game, where most of the Texans stars rested, McCarron complete 58% of his passes for 225 yards and an interception. He also scrambled for an exciting touchdown, the first rushing score of his NFL career.

McCarron will turn 30 during the 2020 season, which will be his seventh season in the NFL. Though he showed some promise late in his time with the Cincinnati Bengals, which drafted him 164th overall in the 2014 NFL Draft, McCarron has carved out a respectable spot in the NFL as a backup to rising star Deshaun Watson.
