Alabama All-SEC Guard Enters NBA Draft

The Crimson Tide men's basketball roster is currently undergoing changes as they transition from the Tide's Final Four to the start of the 2024-2025 season. Alabama has already had five scholarship players, and one walk-on, enter the transfer portal. The only player who was out of eligibility, Aaron Estrada, is heading to the NBA. Despite Estrada being the only player Alabama had to lose, the Tide will look drastically different in 2024.

Alabama could potentially be down its leading scorer from last season now, with starting guard Mark Sears set to enter the NBA draft per his instagram, although there's a caveat to Sears entering the draft.

Sears will maintain his college eligibility while entering the draft, meaning that if he does not get the feedback he wants, or if he has a change of heart, Sears could return to the Crimson Tide in 2024. He has one year of college eligibility remaining.

Sears was Alabama's top scorer from a season ago, breaking the program record for points in a single season and the record for most games with 20 or more points. What he lacked in defense, he made up for from beyond the arc. Sears was crucial to the TIde's Final Four run, especially in the Elite Eight, where he made six straight threes to send Alabama to Phoenix.

Sears averaged 21.5 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 4 assists per game last season while shooting 50.8% from the field and 43.6% from three for the Crimson Tide. He was named First Team All-SEC after the regular season.
