Bohannon and the Tide pick up its third player from the portal this season. Guscette joins sophomore right-handed pitcher Aidan Moza out of UAB and senior Tennessee Tech third baseman Ed Johnson.

Guscette entered the transfer portal on June 11 and played two seasons with the Gators. He provided a consistent bat in their lineup and was a strong presence behind the plate. Guscette appeared in 21 games during his freshman year, including 16 starts at catcher, and batted .298 with an impressive .364 on-base percentage.

In Guscette’s sophomore season (2022) he made 30 starts in 36 total games. Recording 25 hits and five home runs with 18 RBIs. He also posted an outstanding .995 fielding percentage across 206 defensive chances.

Bohannon and the Tide will look to continue to reload this offseason after losing outfielder Owen Diodati and infielder Davis Heller earlier last month. The Tide failed to make the NCAA Tournament this season but hopes to make it back next year with the addition of Guscette and other portal transfers.
