Alabama Baseball Drops Important Road Series to LSU

After splitting their games on Saturday and Sunday against LSU on the road, Alabama lost game three on Sunday by a score of 13-5. Following the loss, Alabama baseball moves to 21-19 overall and 12-14 in SEC play alone.

Sophomore LHP Connor Prielipp got his third start of the season after working through an injury-latent 2021 campaign. Sunday marked the second appearance in a row where Prielipp was restricted to just a single inning of work, and though he only saw six batters, the Tide's starter still managed to throw three strikeouts. Bama never regained the lead after their ace gave up two runs early and officially dealt Prielipp his first loss in 2021.

The only hurler to not give up a run on Sunday was junior RHP Chase Lee who only faced five batters in his single inning of relief work for the Tide.

Freshman infielder Bryce Elbin and R.-Jr. catcher Sam Praytor were the only two Alabama bats to get on base more than once for the afternoon. Senior outfielder Jackson Tate drove in his third home run in 2021 and finished the day at 1-for-4. Junior outfielder Will Patota only went 1-for-3 on the outing but made it count by adding a home run and two RBI to his season totals.

Alabama has one more series to get back on track prior to the 2021 SEC Baseball Tournament in Hoover, Alabama. On Thursday, May 20 at 6:00 p.m. the No. 3 Mississippi State Bulldogs come to Tuscaloosa for the first of three games in Sewell-Thomas Stadium.

The 2021 SEC Baseball Tournament is set to start on Tuesday, May 25 at 9:30 CST with game one between the No. 6 and No. 11 seed.
