Alabama Baseball Hits the Road to Face Missouri
After winning its first SEC series of the season last weekend, the Alabama Crimson Tide baseball team will look to make it two in a row against the Missouri Tigers in Columbia.
Alabama is coming off a midweek loss to the Jacksonville State Gamecocks, but has a great opportunity to climb in the SEC standings with a series victory against Missouri this weekend. At 18-12 overall (3-6 in SEC play), Alabama is currently tied for fifth in the SEC West with Texas A&M. A key for the Crimson Tide will be to continually receive quality starts from top of the rotation starters Sam Finnerty and Jake Walters. Both pitchers gave up only one earned run in their respective starts against Kentucky, which allows the bullpen to really shine. Alabama's bullpen has been exceptional up to this point in the season, with six different relievers currently posting sub-2.00 ERAs.
Missouri is currently 21-7 overall, with a 5-4 record in the SEC. Their biggest strength appears to be home-field advantage as the Tigers currently boast an impressive 14-2 record when playing at home. While no player on Missouri's roster is likely to wow you with their power, sophomore centerfielder Kameron Misner has impressed by building on his Freshman All-American campaign. He is hitting .371 while also stealing 12 bases and posting a .522 OBP this season, and that is after going a combined 1-13 over his past three games. Missouri is coming off a series win against the 15th ranked Auburn Tigers.
The three game series between the Alabama Crimson Tide and Missouri Tigers will kick off Friday afternoon at Taylor Stadium in Columbia, Missouri. Friday's first pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Saturday's game is scheduled for a 2 p.m. start, with Sunday's series finale scheduled for 1 p.m.
All three games can be watched live via SEC Network+ or you can stream the Crimson Tide Sports Network broadcast of the games on Tide 102.9/100.9 or the Tide 102.9 app.
