Trio of Alabama Baseball Stars Named to All-SEC Teams
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Alabama's pitcher Myles Upchurch, pitcher Tyler Fay, and utilityman Brady Neal each earned a spot on an All-SEC team for the 2026 season, the league office announced Monday.
Fay earned a nomination to the conference's second team, joined by Ole Miss' Cade Townsend, Tennessee's Tegan Kuhns, and Auburn's Jackson Sanders as the starters on the list.
The Doniphan, Neb., native held down Friday nights for the Crimson Tide all season long, opening all 14 weekend sets on the mound for Alabama. As the ace, Fay tossed a league-leading 63.2 innings in conference play while striking out 73 SEC batters, the fourth-most across the conference.
Fay also picked up a team-high 99 strikeouts across the entire season, the highest mark for a Crimson Tide pitcher since now-New York Yankee minor leaguer Ben Hess punched out 106 batters in 2024.
Fay's most notable performance was his no-hitter gem against then-No. 18 Florida. Fay struck out 13 Gators across 132 pitches, only issuing two walks, to hold the Gators hitless in a 6-0 victory, setting the tone for the series as the Crimson Tide went on to sweep Florida.
Neal earned a spot on the All-SEC second team after posted a .294 average in 29 SEC games with seven doubles, one triple, two home runs, 19 RBI, and 19 walks. Neal also finished second among Alabama players in hits (30), doubles (7), total bases (45), walks (19), and on-base percentage (.416) in SEC games
The left-handed senior grew into a feature of the Alabama lineup, starting in 50 of 55 games, including 29 out of 30 SEC matchups.
Neal saw time all across the field defensively, playing 17 games in right field, 10 at catcher, and a pair in left field. The catcher by trade committed just one error across 109 chances.
Freshman sensation pitcher Myles Upchurch earned a nod to the league's all-freshman squad after a stellar first collegiate season.
Upchurch was the lone SEC freshman pitcher to toe the rubber in all ten potential league starts, holding opponents to a team-low .193 batting average and a 3.91 ERA.
Upchurch also won SEC Freshman of the Week earlier Monday for his 7.0 inning, two-run performance on Sunday in Alabama's 6-2 in, that clinched the Crimson Tide's spot as a top-four seed in the SEC tournament this week.
Alabama returns to action Thursday against the winner of Wednesday's game between Vanderbilt/Kentucky and Florida at 7 pm CT on SEC Network.
