Alabama Basketball Adds Top Recruit to 2025 Class
The Alabama Crismon Tide Men's Basketball team is preparing for a top-12 Kenpom matchup with the Purdue Boilermakers, but that does not mean Alabama is finished on the recruiting trail.
Preston Murphy and Nate Oats added a vital piece to the Crimson Tide's 2025 recruiting class less than two hours before tip-off against Purdue, with top-40 prospect Davion Hannah committing to the Alabama Crimson Tide according to Joe Tipton of On3 Sports.
Hannah, a 6-foot-5, 175-pound shooting guard from Link Academy in Missouri, chose the Crimson Tide over Missouri, Cincinnati, and Ohio State.
He officially visited Tuscaloosa, Alabama to visit the Crimson Tide on August 31.
247 Sports' director of scouting, Adam Finkelstein, broke down Hannah's play:
"Hannah is an athletic scorer with good size and length on the perimeter. He’s a quick twitch type attacker who can create with his handle, has good burst to the rim, and then can rise-up to finish with both real explosion and body control. He can turn the corner on a ball-screen and score over top of defenders in the mid-range area with a high released pull-up, but he’s best when he has space to operate, so he’s especially dangerous in transition. Hannah has a plus-four wingspan and also plays long, going through the lane with a single bounce at times and really covering the court, both in the open floor and defensively, where he has all the physical tools to eventually be very impactful. He is also a solid perimeter rebounder with the versatility to play at least two positions.
His three-point shooting is his biggest offensive swing skill right now. He made 29% of his threes on just over four attempts per game in the EYBL and has a twisting motion in his mechanics that tends to get more pronounced as he gets farther away from the rim. He also needs to work on his decision-making and overall efficiency with the ball, as his turnovers exceeded his assists (2.1 to 1.7) and he shot just 38% from the floor. He could also develop his ability to move without the ball and impact the game when it isn’t in his hands."
Hannah is ranked as the No. 33 overall player in the 2025 class and the No. 7 shooting guard in the country.
Hannah is originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
