Alabama Earns 2025 Tight End Commitment
Kalen DeBoer's offense features a lot of heavy passing schemes using tight ends as chip blockers and in the passing game. Tight ends have been a position that Alabama did not utilize a ton in the past, with names such as OJ Howard and Irv Smith Jr. shining in limited targets in Alabama's offense.
Alabama will likely utilize tight ends well in Kalen DeBoer's offense, and former Georgia Southern offensive coordinator Bryan Ellis is coaching that room. CJ Dippre and Robbie Outz will likely be the leaders in that room.
The 2025 tight-end recruiting class is a strong one, with the Crimson Tide looking to make a splash on that recruiting trail. The Tide appears to have done it with the addition of a top-10 2025 tight end prospect.
According to Hayes Fawcett of On3 Sports, four-star tight end Kaleb Edwards has committed to the University of Alabama.
Edwards committed to Alabama over Oregon, Auburn, Texas, Washington, and UCLA.
The 6-foot-6, 240-pound prospect from El Dorado Hills, California, attends Oak Ridge High School. According to composite, he's ranked as the No. 159 overall prospect in the 2025 class and the No. 8 tight end. He is the No. 14 ranked player in the state of California.
In 2022, Edwards finished the season with 27 catches for 628 yards and seven touchdowns through 13 games.
Nick Sheridan was the primary recruiter for him. Edwards marks the sixth commitment for Alabama from California, tying the amount of in-state recruits the Crimson Tide currently has committed. He visited Alabama on June 17 on an official visit.
Alabama's 2025 recruiting class currently looks like this:
