Alabama Earns First 5-Star Commitment of 2025
Alabama is known for elite defensive back play, with players such as Patrick Surtain, Minkah Fitzpatrick, Marlon Humphrey, Terrion Arnold, and Kool-Aid McKinstry being some of the top players in college football before getting drafted into the NFL.
Alabama's secondary is talented in 2024, but thin depth-wise. The Crimson Tide potentially could have to replace all but one starter in the secondary after this season due to eligibility of declaring for the NFL.
Alabama's latest commitment will make Crimson Tide fans who are concerned about the secondary very happy.
According to Hayes Fawcett of On3 Sports, Alabama has earned a commitment from five-star cornerback Dijon Lee.
Lee committed to the Crimson Tide over the Georgia Bulldogs, Texas A&M Aggies, and Washington Huskies. He also held offers from Texa, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee, USC, and other Power Five programs.
According to composite, Lee is rated as the no. 22 overall prospect in the 2025 recruiting class. He is the No. 4 overall cornerback, and the No. 1 player in the state of California.
Lee stands at 6-foot-4, 190 pounds from Mission Viejo High School in Mission Viejo, California. In 2022, he totaled 32 tackles, 3 PBU, and 2 INT as a sophomore. He also helped Mission Viejo reach the CIF championship game. He also competes in track and field.
According to Greg Biggins, a national recruiting analyst for 247 Sports, Lee is a very lengthy cornerback and can smother a wide receiver at the line of scrimmage. He has good feet and good change of direction for a cornerback that is so tall. He rarely gets beat over the top. He also appears unafraid to get downhill and lay a big hit on a receiver or a running back.
Alabama's 2025 recruiting class currently looks like this:
- Dijon Lee - 5-star CB
- Darrell Johnson - 4-star LB
- Derick Smith - 4-star S
- Keelon Russell - 4-star QB
- Chuck McDonald III - 4-star CB
- Dawson Merritt - 4-star LB
- Jackson Lloyd - 4-star OT
- Micah DeBose - 4-star OL
- Anthony Rogers - 4-star RB
- Antonio Coleman - 4-star DL
- Michael Carroll - 4-star OL
- Jaedon Harmon - 4-star LB

- Abduall Sanders Jr. - 3-star LB
- Lotzier Brooks - 3-star WR

Alabama still sits at the No. 2 overall recruiting class in 2025 according to 247 Sports.
