How Georgia’s Defense Can Give A High Powered Alabama Offense Trouble
TUSCALOOSA, Ala.-- The Crimson Tide is set to take on the Georgia Bulldogs for the third straight regular-season meeting, having won the last two matchups in the regular season but losing in the SEC Championship Game last season. Alabama will face a similar Bulldogs team it did twice last season, with safety KJ Bolden, corner Ellis Robinson IV, and linebacker Raylen Wilson all returning on defense. Wilson leads the Bulldogs in tackles and sacks this season with 25 total tackles and three sacks, while Ellis Robinson IV and KJ Bolden both have one INT each.

Georgia has been playing lights out on defense, allowing only 244.6 yards of offense per game and 13.4 points per game, while allowing just 57.4 rushing yards per game and 187.2 passing yards per game. On the other side, Alabama has been rolling on offense, averaging 473.8 yards per game and scoring almost 50 points per game. The Tide is also averaging 186.4 rushing yards per game. OC Ryan Grubb was asked on Monday morning about facing a stout Bulldog defense, to which he responded with:
"Discipline, sound, multiple in what they do, excellent third down package, coverage schemes are different than most people. They understand how to travel their nickel and get people into different structures for their coverage fits. And I think that's a huge part of what they do. They're physical up front, they get vertical, and they do a great job. They're well coached. They got good players; they play hard. It'll be a huge test."
Alabama is led by sophomore QB Keelon Russell, who through five games of the season has a total of 1,414 passing yards, 11 touchdowns, and two interceptions while also rushing for 184 yards and four scores on the ground.
Alabama and Georgia will face off at 6:30 pm on ABC this Saturday night.
