Alabama Flips Four-Star Iowa State Quarterback
The Alabama Crimson Tide has its quarterback for the 2026 recruiting class, with Hayes Fawcett of On3 Sports reporting that the Tide has flipped four-star Iowa State quarterback commit Jett Thomalla.

Thomalla, a four-star quarterback from Omaha, Nebraska, had been committed to Iowa State since April. He took just one visit to Tuscaloosa during the 2025 summer recruiting cycle, visiting the Capstone for an unofficial visit on May 30. He took an official visit back to Iowa State on June 6, but the Tide was able to maintain enough communication to secure a flip from the four-star prospect.
Thomalla is ranked as a top-15 quarterback in the 2026 recruiting class and the No. 205 overall prospect in the 2026 recruiting class. The 6-foot-4, 210-pound quarterback will be at the Elite 11 at the end of June.
Thomalla quarterbacked Millard South High School in Omaha, Nebraska, where he won the MaxPreps Nebraska Player of the Year Award as a junior. He led them to a 12-1 record, winning the Class A Championship. As a junior, he completed 69.6% for 3,663 yards and 47 touchdowns. He also accumulated 76 yards and one touchdown on the ground.
Thomalla is Alabama's seventh commitment in the 2026 recruiting class, and the Tide's first quarterback commitment in the class. He joined five-star cornerback Jorden Edmonds, four-star defensive back Zyan Gibson, four-star edge rusher Jamarion Matthews, four-star offensive lineman Samuel Utu, four-star offensive lineman Chris Booker, and four-star defensive lineman Kamhariyan Johnson.
