Alabama Flips Three-Star Georgia Tech OL Commit
The Crimson Tide made what some would consider a surprise addition to its 2026 recruiting class on Friday, with three-star offensive lineman Bear Fretwell flipping his commitment from Georgia Tech to Alabama.

Fretwell's commitment was first reported by Hayes Fawcett of On3 Sports. Fretwell, a 6-foot-7, 315-pound offensive lineman from Brooklet, Georgia, had been committed to the Yellow Jackets since June 15. The Crimson Tide made a strong impression on Fretwell, despite him not taking a visit to Alabama. Even still, the Crimson Tide offered him a scholarship and a place in the 2026 recruiting class on July 5, and just 20 days later, Fretwell made it official with the Crimson Tide. His primary recruiter was Alabama offensive line coach Chris Kapilovic.
He marks the 21st commitment to Alabama in the 2026 recruiting class, and the third offensive line commitment for the Tide. He joins four-star offensive lineman Sam Utu and four-star offensive lineman Chris Booker as offensive line commits for the Crimson Tide in the 2026 recruiting class.
Alabama currently holds the No. 3 recruiting class in the 2026 cycle, with the possibility of adding another five-star prospect before the season starts.
