As we countdown the days to Alabama's season opener against Middle Tennessee State, which is 89 days away, we highlight an Alabama legend who wore the number corresponding with the day. Today we recognize current Alabama defensive tackle, LaBryan Ray.

Ray, an Alabama native, came to Tuscaloosa as a consensus 5-star in the class of 2017.

Ray saw limited play in his freshman campaign due to a foot injury that cut his season short. Ray worked his way into a rotational role the following season, racking up 39 tackles and 2.5 sacks.

The Madison, Ala., native earned a starting role in 2019, but a lower leg injury against South Carolina cut his season short.

Ray retook the field in 2020 but suffered another injury-riddled season.

Ray returned to Tuscaloosa for a fifth season in 2021, playing in 13 games.

Ray went undrafted in 2022 but spent a season on the Patriots practice squad before being waived in February of 2023
