Alabama Football Hosting Trio of Top Transfers
The Alabama Crimson Tide is expected to be much more aggressive in the transfer portal this cycle compared to last cycle, with Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer saying Alabama was in "retention" mode last year, the Crimson Tide can now be in attack mode with the transfer portal in 2024.
Alabama needs several positions filled, including experienced edge rushers, experienced tight ends, and game-changers at the wide receiver position.
The Crimson Tide could address all three of those positions this weekend, with three crucial players set to visit the Capstone.
According to Brett Greenberg of 247 Sports, Alabama is hosting former Arkansas tight end Luke Hasz on a visit this weekend. Hasz is an upcoming junior, and he committed to the Razorbacks in January 2022. During his two seasons at Arkansas, Hasz totaled 42 catches for 577 yards and seven touchdowns. The 6-foot-3, 241-pound tight end will begin his visit to Tuscalosoa on Thursday.
Greenberg also reported that Alabama will host NC State wide receiver transfer, KC Concepcion. Concepcion will also start his visit on Thursday according to Greenberg. The 5-foot-11, 189-pound wide receiver has totaled 124 catches for 1,299 yards and 16 touchdowns with NC State, adding 356 yards rushing and two touchdowns on the ground in two seasons. Concepcion was named ACC Newcomer of the Year in 2023.
In addition to those two, Tim Wats of Bama On3 reports that former Florida edge rusher Kelby Collins will visit Alabama this weekend as well. Collins, a 6-foot-4, 278-pound "bandit" defensive lineman totaled 29 tackles, 1.5 sacks, one forced fumble, and one pass breakup in two seasons with Florida. He was named Freshman All-SEC in 2023, and a second-team All-American by the Athletic. Collins appeared in all 12 games for Florida this season.
Alabama likely still needs to target game-wreckers on the defensive line, and valuable offensive line depth, but if the Crimson Tide can land Hasz, Concepcion, and Collins, it would be a good start to the transfer portal for the Crimson Tide.
