Alabama football is just days away from returning to the practice fields, but Nick Saban and his staff have never left the recruiting trail. The hard work paid off Tuesday evening as the Crimson Tide received a commitment from defensive back Kalvaraz Bessent, a 2014 recruit from Kingsland, Georgia.

A standout on both sides of the football, ESPN's Kipp Adams reported that Bessent is one of the most coveted defensive back prospects in the southeast with offers from Florida, Florida State, Georgia and Ohio State.  The 6-foot-1, 185lbs Camden County High School star recorded 41 tackles, 6 interceptions and four passes broken up on defense and over 700 yards of total offense and 8 touchdowns in his junior campaign.

The announcement was made via his twitter as he is the second official commitment to the 2014 class, following the pledge of Northridge running back Bo Scarborough, who committed last fall. Bradley Bozeman, a 2013 commit will also count toward the 2014 class as a greyshirt (enrolling in the spring of 2014).

He is currently unranked by ESPN, Considered a Rivals 250 prospect and a four star prospect according to both 24/7 Sports and Scout.com
