Alabama Falls in Latest AP and Coaches Polls

Week 1 of college football has concluded, which means new rankings have been released ahead of Week 2.

Prior to the start of the 2025-26 season, the Alabama Crimson Tide held the No. 8 spot in the AP Top 25 and Coaches Poll. However, following a 31-17 defeat at the hands of the unranked Florida State Seminoles over the weekend, the Crimson Tide has fallen to No. 21 in the AP Poll and No. 20 in the Coaches Poll. This is the lowest rank the Crimson Tide has received in the Coaches Poll since being unranked to begin the 2008 season.

Now positioned outside the top 12, the Crimson Tide faces an uphill battle to re-enter and sustain a top-12 ranking throughout the season.

Although the AP and Coaches Poll rankings don't determine who will compete in the 12-team playoff format, it is still important to stay within the top 12 for resume-building purposes.

The Crimson Tide will look to rebound as they return home to Bryant-Denny Stadium to take on the University of Louisiana-Monroe on Saturday at 6:45 p.m. The game will be televised on ESPN and available for streaming on Sling TV, YouTube TV, and Fubo.
