Alabama Men’s Golf Team Has Fourth Player Qualify for 2025 U.S. Amateur
Alabama’s men’s Golf team had its fourth player qualify for the 2025 US Amateur on Monday. Freshman William Jennings became the fourth Alabama player to qualify for the major amateur golf tournament, which is conducted by the United States Golf Association (USGA).

On Monday, Jennings joined three other Crimson Tide men's golf club members (Luke Powell, Jonathan Griz, Nick Gross) when he officially qualified for the 125th U.S. Amateur after shooting 3-under yesterday to secure his spot at the tournament.
This tournament is highly prestigious and has showcased some of the best golfers in the sport's history. Legendary golfers such as Bobby Jones, a five-time U.S. Amateur champion (1924, 1925, 1927, 1928, 1930), Tiger Woods, who became the youngest U.S. Amateur winner at age 18 and won the tournament three consecutive times (1994, 1995, and 1996), Jack Nicklaus, a two-time winner (1959 and 1961), and Arnold Palmer, the 1954 champion, all began their illustrious careers at this event. The tournament itself was established in 1895.
Alabama's golf program has produced over 30 players who have qualified for the U.S. Amateur. Notably, two tournament winners come from this program: Jerry Pate, who won in 1974, and Nick Dunlap, who claimed victory in the 123rd U.S. Amateur in 2023.
According to the USGA's official website, the 2025 U.S. Amateur will be held from August 11 to 17. The tournament will be held at the Olympic Club (Lake Course) in San Francisco, California, with stroke play also co-hosted at the Ocean course.
