Following the retirement of former head coach Nick Saban, Alabama players had a 30-day transfer window open up for players who wanted to move on from Alabama.

While Kalen DeBoer and Alabama did a good job keeping several players on the roster, there's no way to spin the story about losing starters on both sides of the ball. Isaiah Bond, Kadyn Proctor, Trey Amos, and most notably, Caleb Downs all hurt to lose when they were all projected or current starters for Alabama.

However, Kalen DeBoer and Alabama have started to make additions via the transfer portal. Alabama is expected to land transfer defensive back Keon Sabb from Michigan, according to reports.

Sabb appeared in 18 games during his time at Michigan and started four games at safety for the Wolverines, including the College Football Playoff National Championship game against DeBoer's Washington squad. In that game, Sabb accounted for six tackles and broke up two passes.

The six-foot-one, 208-pound defensive back was a four-star prospect from IMG Academy out of high school in the Wolverines' 2022 recruiting class. He was ranked as a top-100 prospect and a top-15 player in the state of Florida.

Sabb is expected to contribute early and compete for a starting job in the Crimson Tide's secondary. The only returning starter from Alabama's 2023 secondary is senior defensive back Malachi Moore. Alabama did land a transfer cornerback in former USC Trojan Domani Jackson. The rest of Alabama's starting secondary is considered up in the air still.
