Alabama Makes Final Three for Five-Star Safety
Alabama learned good recruiting news on Tuesday. Four-star quarterback Jett Thomalla flipped his commitment from Iowa State to Alabama earlier in the day, giving the Tide its seventh commitment in the 2026 recruiting class. On Tuesday night, Alabama received good news again with five-star safety Jett Washington.

According to Hayes Fawcett of On3 Sports, five-star safety Jett Washington included Alabama, Oregon, and USC in his top three schools. Washington has made three visits to both Alabama and Oregon, and only one visit to USC. The 6-foot-4, 200-pound safety from Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas, Nevada, took his official visit to Alabama on May 30, and his official visit to Oregon was on June 6.
The Crimson Tide reportedly made strides in recruiting during his official visit, but it may not have been enough, as experts are beginning to predict that Washington will land with the Oregon Ducks.
Washington, the nephew of the late Kobe Bryant, was named the Nevada Player of the Year and was a MaxPreps Junior All-American in 2024. he totaled 38 tackles, five picks, two pass breakups, and one forced fumble as he helped lead Bishop Gorman to its fourth-straight Nevada Class 5A State Title.
The Tide already has one Bishop Gorman alum on its roster, with former four-star wide receiver Derek Meadows beginning his freshman campaign with Alabama after flipping his commitment from LSU on early signing day in December 2024.
