Alabama MBB Re-Hires Nate Oats Wife

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- On Thursday morning, Alabama men's basketball made two staffing changes, with Josh Pierre being named the director of player development after serving as the Tide's director of operations for the last four seasons. In addition, Alex Accetta has rejoined Alabama's staff as the director of program relations. Accetta is the wife of Alabama men's basketball head coach Nate Oats.

“Over the past four seasons, Josh has been tremendous in his work keeping our program running at the highest level,” head coach Nate Oats said in a statement. “Competitive college basketball runs in his blood. I expect great things from Josh in his new role. His instincts are strong, and he continues to raise the bar for our players and the program.”

Pierre served as Alabama's director of Basketball Operations from 2022 to 2026.

"Alex has an extensive background and proven success in this space at both the collegiate and professional levels,” executive deputy AD and men’s basketball sport administrator Shane Lyons said in a statement. “With her previous experience, she has a strong understanding of our program and what it takes to effectively operate at the highest competitive levels. She returns to Alabama basketball after four seasons with the NBA Dallas Mavericks, and we expect her professional franchise experience and insights to continue to advance all we do.”

Prior to her return to Tuscaloosa, Accetta directed all VIP and executive hospitality operations, oversaw end-to-end logistics for team ownership, visiting ownership groups, league executives, corporate partners, and high-profile guests. Accetta and Oats married in late July. She will report to executive deputy AD and men's basketball sport administrator Shane Lyons, not head coach Nate Oats.
