The Alabama men’s basketball team held off No. 17/20 Auburn, 76-71, Wednesday night in front of sold out crowd in Coleman Coliseum. Freshman John Petty went 8-of-13 from beyond the arc and finished with 27 points.

Freshman Herbert Jones and sophomore Dazon Ingram both reached double figures to help push the Tide past the Tigers. Ingram went 10-of-13 from the charity stripe to score 16 points, while adding three rebounds, two assists and two steals. Jones finished with 11 points and seven rebounds to go along with four assists, four steals and a block.

After trailing, 33-30, at the intermission, the Crimson Tide (12-6, 4-2 SEC) shot 57.7 percent from the floor (15-of-26) and held Auburn (16-2, 4-1 SEC) to just 2-of-11 shooting from three and 12-of-27 from the floor in the second half, while edging Auburn on the glass, 37-35 to outlast its in-state rivals.

Alabama will play its second straight home game on Saturday, Jan. 20 when it takes on Mississippi State at Coleman Coliseum. The game will tip-off at 7:30 p.m. CT and will be televised on SEC Network.
