It has been no secret in the college football world, Alabama is a running team.

I could rattle off the success rate of how Alabama is 49-0 when rushing for 150 yards since 2008, how they’ve never lost a game when rushing the ball at least forty times a game, or talk about how this year Alabama boasts two running backs with 1000 yards (Eddie Lacy and TJ Yeldon), a feat even the duo of Mark Ingram and Trent Richardson could not accomplish. But you already knew that.

You’ve also probably heard about Notre Dame’s front seven and their success against the run.  You’ve heard about the big defensive tackle Louis Nix and one of the most decorated linebackers in college football Manti Te’o.

Yes, the battle within the battle on January 7th when Alabama meets Notre Dame with the Discover BCS National Championship will come in the trenches. However, that is just the reason why Joey Lucci from Phil Steele Publications feels that Alabama could make a big splash in the passing game.

While January 7th is still off in the distance, there are still plenty of good football games to be played.  A big deal is made of the games on New Years Day, however Lucci feels the best game outside of the national championship game will come on the final day of 2012.
