Alabama Outfielder Wins D1Baseball’s SEC Extra Player of Week
Alabama baseball outfielder Andrew Pinckney has won D1Baseball's SEC Extra Player of the Week.
The redshirt junior won the award for his performance against Richmond over the weekend.
Pinckney recorded a .800 batting average, eight hits, two runs batted in, and one walk in aiding the Tide to a perfect 3-0 start to the season.
"Alabama breezed through a series sweep of Richmond over the weekend and Pinckney was right in the middle of all of it. He finished the series 8-for-10, including a 4-for-4 game to begin the season, with two doubles and a home run. There was preseason buzz about Pinckney making the leap to become an SEC player of the year-type player, and this certainly qualifies as getting off on the right foot," wrote D1Baseball.
The Ga., native is playing his third season at the Capstone. During his Tide tenure, he's recorded a .300 batting average, 96 hits, 45 runs batted in, 21 walks, nine stolen bases, and nine home runs.
