The Crimson Tide's defense exploded last Saturday against the Wisconsin Badgers with four sacks and four tackles for loss in a 38-14 win over the Badgers.

Alabama's edge rushers burst onto the scene in the win over Wisconsin, with defensive end LT Overton and outside linebackers Qua Russaw and Yhonzae Pierre accounting for three of the four sacks against Wisconsin. The Crimson Tide took advantage of a lackluster offensive line from Wisconsin, but it will be facing one of the best offensive lines in the country against Georgia on Saturday.

On Monday, defensive coordinator Kane Wommack said he thought the pass rush was "taking steps in the right direction."

"I think we're taking steps in the right direction," Wommack said. "I think we'll know a lot more as we move into SEC play. And we'll know a lot more about our ability to pass rush after Saturday. Going up against a good team and a good offensive line, big, physical. And certainly, they've got great athletes.

"I think pass rush is, you look at it through different facets. Just as a four-man rush, how you're blitzing, how you're simulating pressure, but certainly I think just when you look at our defensive line and outside linebackers that are rushing off the edge, I think we're taking steps in the right direction, but I'm excited to see the progression on Saturday."

Georgia starting quarterback Gunner Stockton has only been sacked four times this season. For comparison, Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson has also only been sacked four times this season. All four of Stockton's sacks came in the Bulldogs' 44-41 victory over the Tennessee Volunteers.

Alabama's pass rush will try to slow down a strong Georgia passing offense on September 27. Kick off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT.
