Alabama Punter Earns National Recognition
Who would have thought Alabama's punting game would be a talking point following a 42-10 win?
And yet, James Burnip has earned a national award following his strong performance against the Wisconsin Badgers.
Burnip was selected for the Ray Guy Punter of the Week following his performance in Madison, Wisconsin, against the Badgers.
Burnip totaled 242 yards punting with an average of 42.9 yards per punt. He hit a season-long kick of 64 yards against Wisconsin, while three more punts landed in the 50-plus yardage range.
Four of his punts dropped Wisconsin inside their own 20-yard line.
From his freshman year to now, James Burnip has added eight yards per punt to his average. Burnip was also named to the Ray Guy Award Watchlist earlier this season.
