Alabama quarterback signee Keelon Russell has had a star-studded season for Duncanville High School, with a chance to compete for his third straight Texas State Championship.

Russell is already being recognized for his play on the field, being named the Gatorade Player of the Year in the state of Texas.

Russell has also been named a finalist for the Gatorade National Player of the Year Award.

He is the first player from Duncanville High School to earn the award in the state of Texas. Other notable players to win the award are Florida quarterback DJ Lagway (2023-2024) and former Oklahoma quarterback Jackson Arnold (2022-2023).

Joining Russell as finalists for the Gatorade Player of the Year are Auburn Tiger commit Alvin Henderson and 2026 offensive tackle prospect Jackson Cantwell.

Russell has passed for 3,652 yards and 52 touchdowns during his senior season at Duncanville. He's also added 254 yards and two touchdowns on the ground this season, leading Duncanville to a 12-0 record so far this season and a No. 3 national ranking this season. Duncanville is also ranked as the No. 1 team in the state of Texas this season.

Russell will lead Duncanville against Bridgeland High School in the UIL Texas Football State Championship on Saturday, December 7.
