Alabama Dominates ULM En Route to First Win of Season
Alabama was questioned all week. The effort, the drive, the intensity, the Alabama Standard was questioned all week after Alabama fell to Florida State 31-17 last week.

While the opponent was vastly inferior, the Crimson Tide sent a message to the rest of college football: They can flip the switch.
It wasn't perfect by any means. LT Overton still struggled to finish pressures with sacks. Lane discipline on defense still wasn't 100% sound. And the blocking in the run game needs some tweaking, although it looked better than last week. But the Crimson Tide rebounded after a poor performance last week in Tallahassee, Florida, with a dominant showing from the starters, all the way to the backups, as Alabama secured a 73-0 victory over the ULM Warhawks to move to 1-1 on the season.
For the Crimson Tide, it started on the opening drive of the game, with Ty Simpson finding a wide-open Germie Bernard on a deep crosser to cap a five-play, 80-yard drive that took just under three minutes off the clock.
The Crimson Tide got the ball back thanks to a three-and-out forced by the defense. Justin Jefferson was able to swing his left arm up and stop a big play downfield, forcing the Warhawks to punt.
Simpson then tossed a trick play to Germie Bernard to cap off the next drive, with a big catch from freshman Lotzeir Brooks setting up the touchdown for the Crimson Tide.
Ryan Grubb was, as the kids say, in his bag on offense for the Crimson Tide tonight.
Alabama added to its lead on the following offensive possession with a three-yard Richard Young touchdown, the Tide's first rushing touchdown of the season.
Alabama kept its foot on the gas in the second quarter, with Ty Simpson channeling his inner Jalen Milroe by keeping the ball himself on a quarterback power play along the goal line, and rushing the ball in for an eight-yard score.
Alabama made a bit of a QB swap, but it wouldn't be the final time we see Simpson on the night. Redshirt Sophomore Austin Mack stepped in, and during his time at quarterback (the first time he stepped in for Simpson), he fired a bullet to freshman tight end Kaleb Edwards for a six-yard score.
And just for good measure, Ty Simpson steps back into the game, where he fires a laser to Isaiah Horton to give Alabama the 42-0 lead heading into the half.
The first half was the last time we saw the Crimson Tide's starting quarterback on Saturday. His final stats were:
17-17 passing, 226 yards, 3 TD
2 rushes, 3 yards, 1 TD
Austin Mack got in on the touchdown passing action with his earlier score to Kaleb Edwards, but tossed his second touchdown of the night with a three-yard touchdown to Josh Cuevas, who collected his second touchdown of the season.
All three of the Crimson Tide's scholarship quarterbacks entered the game tonight, with Keelon Russell getting his first action with just under 14 minutes left in the contest. Russell made quick work of his first series, capping it with an 18-yard touchdown to Cole Adams after just a 59-second drive.
The reserves continued to pour it on ULM, not stopping until the Tide held a 73-0 lead. Ty Simpson, Austin Mack, and Keelon Russell all ended the day with multiple touchdowns.
Alabama wraps the night securing its first win of the 2025 college football season with a 73-0 victory over the ULM Warhawks. Alabama will return to Bryant-Denny Stadium next Saturday, September 13, to take on Wisconsin. Kick off is set for 11:00 a.m.
