Three Alabama Defenders Earn Weekly Honors From the SEC
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- After Alabama's SEC opening win against the Kentucky Wildcats on Saturday, three Crimson Tide defenders earned weekly honors from the Southeastern Conference.

Luke Metz - SEC Co-Defensive Player of the Week

Metz earned SEC Co-Defensive Player of the Week in just his second start for the Crimson Tide, ending last weekend's SEC road victory with eight total tackles, one quarterback hurry, and a 34-yard pick-six that opened the scoring for the Crimson Tide.
Caleb Woodson - SEC Co-Defensive Player of the Week

The Tide's transfer linebacker pickup played with his hair on fire against the Wildcats, leading the team with 12 tackles. He also contributed two sacks - his first two as a member of the Crimson Tide. Woodson made several plays that the Crimson Tide needed, including four solo tackles.
Devan Thompkins - SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week

Alabama's addition of USC transfer Devan Thompkins paid off on Saturday against the Wildcats. He finished the day with six total tackles, including four solo, with two sacks on the day. On his first sack, he bull-rushed Kentucky's left guard and sat him in Kenny Minchey's lap. On the second sack, he beat right tackle Malachi Wood around the edge and forced a crucial fumble for the Crimson Tide, allowing Alabama to score on its next possession.
No. 10 Alabama will host Florida State on Saturday, September 19. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. CT on ABC.
