Alabama Secures Comeback Win Over Troy in Tuscaloosa Regional
The Alabama Crimson Tide defeated the Troy Trojans 11-8 on Saturday night at Sewell-Thomas Stadium.
Right-handed pitcher Garrett McMillan started on the mound for the Crimson Tide. He pitched 4.0 innings pitched, six hits, six runs (six earned), two walks, and two strikeouts.
Alabama got on the board first in the second inning with a two-run home run by center fielder Caden Rose. The bomb brought home catcher Mac Guscette, who got on base the previous at-bat on a fielder's choice.
Troy took the lead in a monster third inning, scoring five runs off five hits. The Trojans loaded up the bases, then center fielder Kole Myers hit into an RBI double play, right fielder Ethan Kavanagh hit an RBI single, and first baseman William Sullivan capped off the scoring with a three-run home run.
The Crimson Tide regained the lead in the fourth inning, scoring four runs on three RBI singles from shortstop Jim Jarvis, left fielder Tommy Seidl, and designated hitter Dominic Tamez. Alabama brought in an extra run on Seidl's single after a catching error by Troy second baseman Donovan Whibbs.
Troy tied up the ballgame in the fifth inning with a solo home run by Myers.
Right-handed pitcher Aidan Moza came in for relief in the fifth inning. He pitched 3.0 innings, recording four hits, two runs (two earned), one walk, and four strikeouts.
Alabama retook the lead in the sixth inning on a solo home run by right fielder Andrew Pinckney to give the Tide the 7-6 advantage.
Troy retook the lead in the sixth inning with an RBI single by Lewis and an RBI sacrifice fly by Myers, giving the Trojans the 8-7 lead.
Right-handed pitcher Hunter Hoopes came in for relief in the eighth inning. He pitched one inning, recording zeros across the board.
Alabama's hot bats came in clutch in the ninth inning, scoring four runs to win the game. Seidl reached base on a throwing error, scoring two runs for Alabama to put them in front. Then, Pinckney hit an RBI triple, and Tamez hit an RBI single to secure Alabama's 11-8 comeback win.
Left-handed pitcher Alton Davis II came in to close the game. He pitched the remainder of the game, recording no hits and one strikeout.
