Alabama Slammer Named Co-SEC Player of the Week

Tuscaloosa, Ala. - The Crimson Tide excelled this past weekend at the Jacksonville Classic, claiming the title with a clean sweep of Coastal Carolina and No. 12 N.C. State and a thrilling comeback victory over Ohio State on Sunday.

Alabama first baseman Will Hodo had an especially great performance on Sunday, capping off Alabama's 10-0 comeback against Ohio State with a home run slam past right field to walk off the win against the Buckeyes 12-10.

Hodo's performance throughout the week, capped off by the three-run bomb on Sunday, has earned him Co-SEC Player of the Week for the first time in his career.

It is also Alabama's first weekly honor this season.

Hodo helped Alabama achieve a 5-0 record during the week. He maintained a .389 average in five starts this week for the Crimson Tide, achieving two doubles, two home runs, six RBI, 10 runs scored, three walks, and three hit by pitch.

Certainly a star-studded performance by the senior from Waynesboro, Mississippi.

Hodo reached base in all five of Alabama's victories, playing an instrumental part in Alabama's scoring 10 or more runs in three games last week.

Hodo already had an SEC Player of the Week resume going into Sunday but stamped his claim to the weekly award with the exclamation point victory over Ohio State, where Hodo produced a three-run home run in Alabama's 12-10 win. The comeback from 10-0 in the fourth inning marks the largest comeback victory in Alabama Baseball history.
