Alabama Softball Adds Six Signees for 2025 Class
Alabama Softball concluded their 2025 class this week from a few high school seniors on National Signing Day.
Holly Beth Brooks, Gerritt Griggs, Vic Moten, Kaitlyn Pallozzi, Ana Roman, and Ambrey Taylor were the new signess of Alabama's 2025 class.
Head coach Patrick Murphy commented about the 2025 class.
"The number one thing we look for in recruits are great young landies who come from great families. All six of this year's signees are exactly that. We are very excited to add a group of young ladies of this caliber to our program," said Murphy.
Holly Beth Brooks
Holly Beth Brooks, a 5'8" catcher from Tuscaloosa County High School in Northport, Alabama, is ranked No. 34 among catchers and No. 12 in the Southeast Region in the Extra Innings Softball 2025 class rankings. Known for her power at the plate, she holds the No. 56 spot in Extra Innings’ power hitter rankings. Academically, she excels as well, earning a place on the Extra Innings Elite Scholar National Honor Roll.
Murphy discussed the addition of Brooks to Alabama's squad for the upcoming season.
"We absolutely love everything HBB brings to the table. She is an athletic catcher and a local product out of Tuscaloosa County High School. She has a great arm and pop from the right side," said Murphy.
Gerritt Griggs
Gerritt Griggs, a 5'8" infielder from Central High School in Phenix City, Alabama, has achieved significant recognition in softball. She is ranked No. 25 overall and No. 9 among infielders in the Extra Inning Softball 2025 class rankings and holds the No. 12 spot in the 2025 Extra Elite 100 rankings. Prep Softball ranks her at No. 36, and she is also featured in the Perfect Game Top 50 and at No. 11 in Line Drive Media’s 2025 rankings. Griggs is a PGF All-American Game Watch List and Regional finalist, an AHSAA First Team All-State Selection, and was named "Hitter of the Year" by OA News. Additionally, she earned Chattahoochee Valley First Team honors, OA News First Team honors, and ASHAA All-State recognition.
Nationally, Griggs led MaxPreps in runs scored and ranked second in stolen bases. She set a Central High School record for hits in a single season and was selected for the AHSAA South Team All-Star. A Gatorade Player of the Year nominee, she has also been named to the Extra Inning Softball All-Summer Team twice, in 2021 and 2023.
Murphy talked about Griggs versatility of playing multiple positions on the field.
"Gerritt might be one of the best athletes we have brought to campus in recent years. She could play six different spots on the field and look great at all of them. She will be a green-light baserunner with great speed from the left side," said Murphy.
Vic Moten
Vic Moten, a 5'5" pitcher from Daphne High School in Daphne, Alabama, has an impressive record of achievements. She is a three-time All-County selection (2022-24) and a two-time First Team All-State and All-Region honoree (2023-24). Recognized for her pitching skills, she was named Lagniappe Newspaper Pitcher of the Year twice (2023-24) and received the 2024 Super All-State and 7A Player of the Year titles. In 2024, she also made the AL.com Terrific 22, was selected as the AHSAA Radio Network Player of the Week, and the 105.5 WNSP Player of the Week. Additionally, she earned four Top-7 Performance of the Week honors from AL.com. Moten helped her team to a 7A State Runner-Up finish in 2024.
Murphy talked about Moten's ability to provide pitching and defense.
"Vic is a right-handed pitcher from Daphne, Alabama, who hits, runs, and plays great defense in addition to her pitching. She's a power pitcher and will continue to get even better as she goes through college. She also plays flag football and basketball," said Murphy.
Kaitlyn Pallozzi
Kaitlyn Pallozzi, a 6'0" pitcher from Mercy High School in Wixom, Michigan, is one of the top-ranked players in the 2025 class. She is ranked No. 2 overall and No. 1 among pitchers by Line Drive Media, No. 7 overall and No. 2 pitcher by Prep Softball, and No. 8 overall by Perfect Game. Pallozzi is a two-time All-State selection (2023-24) and has earned All-Region and All-District honors three times each (2022-24). She also set the MHSAA single-game strikeout record with 21 and has been named to the Michigan Dream Team for three consecutive years (2022-24).
Murphy discussed Pallozzi's high-profile pitching and what it can be for this season.
"Kaitlyn is a right-handed power pitcher from just outside of Detroit. She was one of the top 2025 pitching prospects in the country. We love her upside, and she has a ton of intangibles," said Murphy.
Anna Roman
Ana Roman, a 5'8" outfielder from Hagerty High School in Oviedo, Florida, is ranked among the top players in the 2025 class, standing at No. 3 overall and No. 2 outfielder by Extra Inning Softball and Line Drive Media, and No. 12 overall by Prep Softball. Roman’s accolades include being a 2021 18U Top Gun National Champion and a member of the 18U Puerto Rico Jr. National Team. She earned a bronze medal at the 2021 Pan American Jr. Games and was a three-time First Team All-SAC selection (2022-24). Twice named Team MVP (2022-23), she was also the 2023 All-Conference Player of the Year. Internationally, Roman won a bronze medal with the Puerto Rican National Team twice (2021, 2024) and a gold medal in 2024, where she was named MVP and made the All-Tournament Team. She is also a two-time 18U PGF All-American (2023-24) and was recognized as National Player of the Week in 2023.
Murphy talked about Roman's ceiling for her time as a member of Alabama.
"Ana was our number one outfield target for the 2025 class. She has speed, power, and a great arm. We were really impressed with her development over the years. She's a lefty-lefty with pop that will play well at Rhoads Stadium," said Murphy.
Ambrey Taylor
Ambrey Taylor, a 5'9" infielder from Curry High School in Jasper, Alabama, has established herself as a top talent in the 2025 class. She is ranked No. 15 by Line Drive Media and No. 17 overall by Extra Inning Softball. Taylor’s accomplishments include winning the 2024 PGF National Championship and being a two-time PGF All-American. In 2022, she led her team to a state championship, earning the State Championship MVP title, and was later named the 2023 4A State Player of the Year. A three-time All-State First Team selection, she was also named to the 2023 AWSA Super All-State Team and was a MaxPreps Underclassmen All-American in 2022. Taylor has been recognized three times on the All-Area team, twice on the All-Walker County team, and was the 2022 Walker County MVP.
Murphy talked about Taylor's home roots to Alabama and more.
"Ambrey is a utility infielder and another in-state product from about an hour away from Tuscaloosa. She has been a winner every season. She is coming off a PGF Championship last summer, and she played a big role in the championship. She has power from the right side and has a great arm defensively," said Murphy.
Alabama men's basketball heads to West Lafayette, Indiana to face No. 13 Purdue tomorrow at 6:00 p.m. CT on Tide 100.9 FM and 1230 AM WTBC.
