A series win on the road at Texas A&M last weekend helped Alabama softball maintain its position near the top of the national rankings this week, coming in at No. 4 in both the USA Today/NFCA and ESPN.com/USA Softball polls.

The Crimson Tide went 2-1 last weekend on the road at Texas A&M, winning the first two games in run-rule fashion to clinch the series victory before taking its first loss of the season in game three. The 33-game win streak to start the season is the third-best in NCAA Division-I history. Alabama is the highest-ranked SEC team in both polls, joined in the top 10 by Tennessee (5/6), Florida (6/7) and LSU (8/5). In total, 10 SEC programs are represented in the top 25 with two others receiving votes in at least one poll.

This week, Alabama opens a five-game homestand with a midweek matchup against Georgia Tech (22-12) Wednesday, March 27 at 6:30 p.m. CT live on SEC Network. The Tide then welcomes Mississippi State (20-10, 1-5 SEC) for a three-game series starting Friday, March 29 at 6:30 p.m. CT.
