Freshman Kaitlyn Pallozzi earned the win for Alabama after delivering a dominant performance in the circle. Across five innings of work, Pallozzi recorded two strikeouts while allowing zero earned runs. USC Upstate’s lineup struggled to generate any offensive rhythm throughout the game as Pallozzi’s command and control helped lead the Crimson Tide to the run-rule victory.

Alabama Softball’s offense exploded early and never looked back in its dominant performance. In the bottom of the second inning, Marlie Giles got the scoring started with a solo home run to right center to give the Crimson Tide a 1-0 lead. Later in the inning, Audrey Vandagriff showcased her speed by sliding under the tag at home following an infield hit from Kristen White, extending the lead to 2-0. Brooke Wells followed with a clutch bases-loaded single that brought home two more runs before Alexis Pupillo capped off the inning with a two-run double over the left fielder’s outstretched glove, pushing Alabama’s advantage to 6-0.

The Crimson Tide kept the momentum rolling in the third inning when Vandagriff launched an opposite-field solo homer to make it 7-0. Pupillo added the finishing touch in the fourth inning with an RBI single to left field, extending Alabama’s lead to 8-0.

Head coach Patrick Murphy gave his overall thoughts about the win and more.

I was very pleased with Kaitlyn's performance, being her first time as a freshman in a regional game. One of the deciding factors was how well she pitched the other night against Texas in the SEC Championship. I thought she handled the crowd and the atmosphere and didn't let it get too big for her and I figured she would do what she did today. She's very even-keeled and doesn't get too high or too low. Any time you can throw a shutout I'll take it all day long. I don't care who it's against.

Friday’s win added another chapter to Alabama Softball’s postseason history. The victory marked the Crimson Tide’s 32nd regional shutout and 20th regional run-rule win in program history. With the dominant performance, Alabama also reached the 50-win mark for the first time since 2021.

Offensively, the Crimson Tide continued its historic power surge at the plate. Alabama’s two home runs on Friday increased the team’s season total to 91, tying for the third-most in single-season program history and marking the program’s first 90-plus home run season since 2012. The shutout was also Alabama’s 23rd of the season, tied for the fifth-most in school history. Friday additionally marked the 26th game this year in which the Crimson Tide hit two or more home runs.

Tomorrow, the Crimson Tide will play Belmont at 1 p.m. CT.
