Early Thursday, it was announced that Alabama starter Grayson Hitt will undergo Tommy John surgery, ending his season. Hitt was injured during a midweek bullpen session.

In eight starts this season, Hitt possesed an ERA of 4.19 and three wins to one loss.

The road back from Tommy John surgery takes nine months to a year, occasionally even longer.

The Tenn., native, is the No. 43 player in MLB.com's official draft rankings.

Hitt's injury is a huge blow to a Tide squad looking to push for a NCAA tournament bid.

The Alabama Crimson Tide are set to take on the Missouri Tigers in another vital SEC series this weekend.
