The Alabama Crimson Tide lost to the Oklahoma Sooners on Saturday, 24-3. The loss was a pitiful performance all around and ended any chance Alabama had at an SEC Championship appearance, all but ending the Tide's College Football Playoff hopes.

The bad news got worse on Monday, with ESPN's Pete Thamel reporting that star Alabama linebacker Deontae Lawson will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a "significant" leg injury against the Oklahoma Sooners.

Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer confirmed the loss in his Monday press conference.

Alabama defensive coordinator Kane Wommack said that senior linebacker Justin Jefferson will take over the "green dot" for the Crimson TIde's defense, which signifies the primary defensive play caller. Jefferson is in his second year with the Crimson TIde after transferring from junior college.

Lawson's injury can not be understated. He was a semifinalist for the Butkus Award and the second-leading tackler for the Crimson Tide, with 76 total tackles on the season, four pass breakups, two sacks, one forced fumble, and one interception.

Alabama will return home for the final game of the regular season against the Auburn Tigers for a 2:30 p.m. CT kickoff on November 30. The game will be broadcast on ABC.
