The Alabama football team began preparations for Western Carolina with a two hour practice, Tuesday afternoon in the Hank Crisp Indoor Facility. The practice was the first of the week for the Crimson Tide.

“This week we worked on perfecting our fundamentals,” senior safety Robert Lester said. “That is the first step of being a football player, if you can perfect that goal on the field you can execute any game plan the coaches provide for us. As a defense we need to work on communication and eliminating our mental errors. We have had a lot of mistakes these past couple of games and there is always room to improve. “

Junior quarterback AJ McCarron was named to the Walter Camp Football Foundation Player to Watch list. He was one of 15 players named to the list. The 2012 Walter Camp Player of the Year recipient, who is voted on by the Football Bowl Subdivision head coaches and sports information directors, will be presented on Thursday, December 6, during the 6 p.m. edition of ESPN SportsCenter.

Alabama and Western Carolina will meet on Saturday for an 11:21 a.m. kickoff.  The game can be heard locally on 99.1 WDGM’s sister station 95.3 The Bear with the Crimson Tide Sports Network Coverage kicking off at 8:21 a.m.
